Last Saturday, I attended my third writing workshop.  I love going to these workshops — meeting authors, agents, and editors.  Often, I walk away astounded by the amount of new knowledge I have ingested.  One of the things I walked away with this time was how important it is to have a “platform, like yesterday”, even though my book is not yet published.  So, here I am, with a new twitter account, a new website, and soon to be, an author’s page on Facebook.

This journey as a writer has been both awkward and inspiring.  I started off without any confidence, any hope of ever creating anything that would be decent, must less engaging.  When I look back at what I’ve accomplished, a 42-chapter middle grade adventure that both of my children love, I’m humbly pleased with myself.  Still, through encouragement from my ever-supportive husband and some close friends, I have moved forward into this writer’s world and I am amazed.  How interesting it is to find myself in company instead of being alone.  How wonderful to know that so many are seeking to create a story that will captivate others and inspire them.  Maybe, just maybe, this is where I am supposed to be.

  • I’m not sure why but this weblog is loading very slow for me.
    Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my end?
